President's Message

April 2020

To: Chicago Chapter

Re: President’s message

First and foremost, I hope everyone is safe during these unusual times for our families and businesses. I do not believe I have told so many people to wash their hands since my kids were in grade school. Please continue to practice social distancing and safe hygiene; as it appears, they are the best way to reduce the spread of the virus.

Over the last six months, the Chicago Chapter has been working with the Global Office to find volunteers that would assist in revitalizing the Northwest Suburban (NWS) Chapter. The Chapter has had more than 180 members, who without a standing Chapter Board was not been receiving local IMA information. As a result, on April 1, 2020, the NWS Chapter was merged into the Chicago Chapter. Mike Shapow and Alex Blyakhman of NWS have joined our Board. Once the opportunity for public gatherings becomes available, Chicago will have a welcome event at Emmett’s Brewing Company in Palatine the traditional meeting site for the NWS Chapter.

I am pleased to announce that the Board of Directors for the 2020-2021 fiscal year has been elected. Installation will occur on July 1, which is the beginning of the new fiscal year. Please join me in welcoming the new Board. The names and positions are listed on the Website under the About Chapter tab and Chapter Board dropdown.

As always, please provide any thoughts you also may have regarding additional events and services your Board can provide. My email is

We on the Board look forward to serving you.
